1. Overview

ShieldFrame Recorder is a user-controlled Android app for visible video and audio recording. The app is designed to store recordings locally on your device and to keep recording controls clear and visible.

This Privacy Policy explains how ShieldFrame Recorder accesses, uses, stores, and protects information.

2. Summary

ShieldFrame Recorder:

3. Camera and microphone use

ShieldFrame Recorder uses the camera permission for video recording and the microphone permission for audio recording or video recording with audio.

Camera and microphone access is used only when you start recording. Recording cannot start unless the required permissions and the in-app recording disclosure have been accepted.

If video audio is turned off, the app does not need microphone permission for silent video recording. If audio-only mode is used, the app does not need camera permission.

4. Recording notification

While recording is active, ShieldFrame Recorder requires a visible foreground notification. This notification helps keep recording visible and provides a way to stop recording.

If recording notifications are disabled, the app may block recording or stop recording to keep recording behavior transparent.

5. Local storage

Recordings are stored locally on your device in the app’s private storage area.

ShieldFrame Recorder does not upload recordings to any server, cloud service, or developer backend.

The app does not have cloud backup or cloud sync.

6. User-controlled export and sharing

You may choose to export or share a recording using Android’s share or export features. These actions are controlled by you.

When you share or export a recording, the receiving app or service is responsible for how it handles that file. For example, if you share a file through a messaging app, email app, or cloud storage app, that third-party app’s privacy policy applies.

ShieldFrame Recorder does not automatically share recordings.

7. App Lock and PIN

ShieldFrame Recorder may offer an App Lock or PIN feature.

If enabled, the PIN is stored locally as a protected hash. The plain PIN is not stored by the app.

App Lock helps restrict access inside the app, but it is not a file-level encryption system. Recordings rely on Android’s app-private storage protections and your device security settings.

8. Recording logs and diagnostics

ShieldFrame Recorder may store local recording history and diagnostic logs on your device. These logs may include file names, timestamps, file sizes, recording mode, stop reasons, and operational warnings such as low battery, notification disabled, camera interruption, or recovery events.

Diagnostic logs do not contain the audio or video content of your recordings.

These logs stay on your device and are not uploaded.

9. Permissions used by the app

ShieldFrame Recorder may request the following permissions depending on the recording mode and Android version:

Camera:
Used for video recording.

Microphone:
Used for audio recording or video recording with audio.

Notifications:
Used to show the required visible recording notification.

Foreground service:
Used to continue recording while the app is open, in the background, or while the screen is off.

Wake lock:
Used to help keep recording stable during long recordings.

Legacy storage permission:
May be present for older Android versions only, for compatibility with export or file handling behavior.

10. Data collection and sharing

ShieldFrame Recorder does not transmit user recordings or app data to the developer.

The app does not collect user data on a server.

The app does not use advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, or tracking SDKs.

The app does not collect location, contacts, phone numbers, email addresses, device identifiers for tracking, or financial information.

11. Data retention and deletion

Recordings remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

You can delete recordings from within the app.

You can clear local recording history and diagnostic logs from within the app, if those options are available.

Uninstalling the app removes app-private data from the device, subject to Android system behavior.

12. Battery and background reliability

Long recordings may depend on device battery and background activity settings. Some Android devices may stop or restrict background apps depending on battery settings, storage availability, or manufacturer-specific system behavior.

ShieldFrame Recorder may provide a reliability guide to help users configure their device for long recordings. The app cannot guarantee uninterrupted recording if the operating system restricts, freezes, or terminates the app.

13. Children

ShieldFrame Recorder is not directed to children. The app is intended for users who understand local recording laws and device permission behavior.

14. Legal and consent responsibility

You are responsible for using ShieldFrame Recorder lawfully. Recording laws vary by country, state, and situation. You are responsible for obtaining any required consent and complying with all applicable laws before recording.

ShieldFrame Recorder is not a legal, emergency, medical, or law enforcement service.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the Last Updated date will be revised.
